Title:
Unity should listen for gestures but allow other applications to
handle gestures as well
Status in ginn:

Status in Unity:

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
When installing a gesture handling application such as ginn, Unity
should allow the application to also receive gesture details so that
native gestures aren't the only ones which can be handled. I believe
this is related to a bug in ginn
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ginn/+bug/985121). The
workaround to make ginn subscribe to gestures is to recompile the
unity package after commenting out the initialization of gesture
handling in Unity. The problem, of course is that the native gestures
which provide drag handles for touch screen users are no longer
available making window management difficult. Allowing some pass-
through of gesture handling would enable additional touch screen
gestures to be handled without the loss of the native gestures in
Unity.
(Should be listed as an enhancement request.)
