As per http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97AR/HelpDesk_Download/ an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2601).
If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

  xorg probably wrong, likely unity

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Sporatic window manager freeze.
  Too common to not complain, seems to be dependent on the amount of activity.
  Though Chromimun maybe damaged, deinstalled, installed Chrome.
  Same symptom after some time window manger does not receive keyboard or mouse clicks.

  First symptom is useing a drop down list on some form in the browser
  instead of getting the list of items to select you get a black box
  then you no longer are accepting input.

  Note the mouse icon moves around but you can not see the clicks or the
  keyboard.

  You can ssh in from a remote and reboot.
