I have the same experience as the observation in the due at bug
#1512494, using  a map app will lock in a better location for the scopes
to use.

Bug description:
  The nearby scope gets the location wrong (seems to use the city
  selected in the time settings). When Refreshing the scope the data is
  intermittent. Sometimes information is displayed sometimes its blank.
