I did as you asked, saved the output in a typescript file, which may be incomplete
because the system DID a shutdown now :-)

Executed a "shutdown -P 15:30; echo $?" which had output '0'

However, no wall messages were written...

  shutdown -P 23:30 is never scheduled

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Any delayed shutdown command is never scheduled.

  In addition wall messages are not written.

  This is introduced with Ubuntu 15.10
  Ubuntu 15.04 was fine.

  I use

  echo /sbin/poweroff | at 2330

  as a work around.
