I'm going to assume this is the bug i am seeing and that:
* It goes away when you close scopes so it restarts itself
If so the bug is already fixed in qtmir (was actually frames not being
painted correctly). For some reason latest qtmir has not yet landed into
xenial though :/

Bug description:
In the latest Unity8 release while in a desktop session, no scopes are
being shown in the Dash.
The favorite-scopes gconf key shows what is expected:
$ gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Dash favorite-scopes
['scope://clickscope', 'scope://musicaggregator', 'scope://videoaggregator']
