[Bug 1518526] Re: malware steals resources and is entirely useless

Please be considerate when filing bugs, you are not going to win
yourself any bonus points by harassing the community developers that
look after most of the universe.

I could just as well call this one "spam steals resources and is
entirely useless" and be done...

Tracker is not malware, it is a core part of the GNOME Desktop
experience, gnome-shell would completely break if tracker was removed.
And believe it or not it is actually useful.

Also its not even installed on your system, and apparently you are using
KDE, so perhaps you installed it at some point, but its not used in KDE,
Unity or any other desktops and only GNOME.

Finally assuming you wanted to use GNOME, you still have full control
over the indexing, via tracker-preferences.

Title:
malware steals resources and is entirely useless

Status in tracker package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
cannot remove this piece of malware. It has no use and seems to hijack cpu, disk, disk space and in general reduce system to unusable. Purging the malware "tracker-miner-fs" reduces its impact some, but it's still expensive.
I mean, who uses desktop search tools anyway? Definitely not someone with several thousand source files and no interest in using a desktop to interact (that's what console is for). Definitely not when there's perfectly good app menus that (at least used to be) present.

Please purge this. Or at least make it possible to purge. It's malware.
All "search tools" are malware because they eat disk space like they're the only app present and nothing else matters. They should only ever be optional.
