[Bug 1521337] Re: Add support for wired audio headset controls
Last I checked we were not getting any input events for the volume
buttons on the headset I tried, wonder if that's because of the
incompatible impedance values. Otherwise whatever else converts the
hardware events to input events needs adapting.

Title:
Add support for wired audio headset controls
Status in Canonical System Image:

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Most phones support remote controls built into wired audio headsets.
There seem to be various types on the market offering between one and
four function buttons, I for example have a pair of three-function
Sennheiser CX2.00G earbuds.
Google released a specification as part of its Android project
(https://source.android.com/devices/accessories/headset/specification.html),
but according to some source it is incompatible with older devices
because different resistor values are being used.
