Title:
update manager fails catastrophically to upgrade to U7.10
Status in cdebconf-terminal package in Ubuntu:
New
Status in debconf package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
When updating the distribution to Ubuntu 7.10 via 'update manager'
dozens of packages failed to initialize including login and sudo, with
endless rounds of dialogs indicating so, culminating in an abort-of-
installation dialog and an attempt to make the system usable with a
warning that it may not be, followed by a request for this bug report
to be made against 'update manager' with the files in /var/log/dist-
upgrade/ which I attach. The system still boots, but I don't trust it
and I am going to start over with 8.4.
