[Bug 1316344] Re: webbrowser crash files destroyed somehow
If you can still reproduce this, can you please attach
/var/log/apport.log? I suspect it says "aborting core dump write,
exceeds available memory" or something such".
** Changed in: apport (Ubuntu)

Title:
webbrowser crash files destroyed somehow
Status in “apport” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I setup ubuntu-emulator with a trusty image and was testing reporting
of crashes. I launched the webbrowser application and then used 'kill
-11' and the process id of the webbrowser app to force it to crash.
After apport finished running I discovered the crash file did not have
a core dump. I tried this again and watched the file size and
observed the following:
phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ ls -lh /var/crash/
total 864K
---------- 1 phablet whoopsie 862K May 5 22:36 _usr_bin_webbrowser-app.32011.crash
phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ ls -lh /var/crash/
total 1.1M
---------- 1 phablet whoopsie 1.1M May 5 22:36 _usr_bin_webbrowser-app.32011.crash
crash8 ls -lh /var/crash/
total 84K
-rw-r----- 1 phablet whoopsie 81K May 5 22:36 _usr_bin_webbrowser-app.32011.crash
phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$
Clearly something is wrong here. The file becoming smaller seemed to
coincide with the window for the webbrowser finally closing, but I
can't be positive of that.
