To elaborate, Moritz uses the thumbnailer to create thumbnails from SVG.
Anything that isn't drawn on is turned black by the conversion to JPG
that we do internally (via gdk_pixbuf).

Bug description:
  It would be nice, if the thumbnailer could preserve transparency in thumbnails for e.g. logos.
  The black background often looks really bad in applications that use a light theme.
