@Michael: another thing you could try is to edit the video and reduce it
to a 5-10 second clip total. See if that clip also does not play. If it
does, that means the editor restructured the video to make the decoder
happy. If not, you should be able to share that short clip with myself
or someone else on the team since it's not the entire intellectual
property. Although I'm not a lawyer so this could still be wrong.

Bug description:
  After installing the OTA-9 update to my BQ Aquaris 4.5, mp4 video
  files no longer display in media player. I get a white screen and no
  video (but the sound plays ok). The videos used to play fine up until
  OTA-9 was installed.
