  scrolling performance on Recent view too slow

Bug description:
  build 210

  the scrolling performance on the Recents view is very jerky and not
  smooth. Avatars appear to be reloaded and things studder. This needs
  to be profiled and improved. It's especially bad when you have a lot
  of pages of calls (which most people will have)
