Working from the test failures downward, I can't yet see where or if
Unity8 gets any focus notifications from Mir at all:

Unity8:
assert_current_focused_application
self.main_window.get_current_focused_app_id
self._get_shell().focusedApplicationId
ApplicationManager.focusedApplicationId
ApplicationManager::focusApplication
ApplicationInfo::focused()
ApplicationInfo::setFocused()
... ?

Instead it appears that Unity8 and QtMir dictate focus between
themselves. This makes me suspicious of QtMir which has received two
focus-related changes in the past 24 hours.

  The following unity8 AP tests are failing with the Mir 0.8.0 silo PPA
  :

  unity8.application_lifecycle.tests.test_application_lifecycle.ApplicationLifecycleTests.test_click_app_icon_on_dash_must_focus_it
  unity8.application_lifecycle.tests.test_application_lifecycle.ApplicationLifecycleTests.test_greeter_hides_on_app_focus
  unity8.application_lifecycle.tests.test_application_lifecycle.ApplicationLifecycleTests.test_click_dash_icon_must_unfocus_application

  It's easily reproducible. This was seen on the stable device with
  ubuntu-touch/ubuntu-rtm/14.09-proposed plus the 0.8.0 rtm-20 silo.
