Bug description:
1) $ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
Release: 14.04
2) $ sudo apt-cache policy gcc-4.8
gcc-4.8:
Installed: 4.8.2-19ubuntu1
Candidate: 4.8.2-19ubuntu1
Version table:
*** 4.8.2-19ubuntu1 0
500 http://fi.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
3) I tried to compile following code (attached the *c *.i and *.s files):
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#define SIZEOF_BUFFER 128
int main()
{
static char traceBuffer[SIZEOF_BUFFER];
memcpy((char *)0x40024000, traceBuffer, sizeof(traceBuffer));
return 0;
}
Expected to compile and produce memcpy.out executable.
4) Actual result:
$ gcc memcpy_test.c -g -m32 -Wall -Wextra -Wno-format -o memcpy.out --save-temps
memcpy_test.c: In function ‘main’:
memcpy_test.c:10:8: internal compiler error: in ix86_copy_addr_to_reg, at config/i386/i386.c:21718
memcpy((char *)0x40024000, traceBuffer, sizeof(traceBuffer));
