The fix for bug 1236290 solves that. It has landed in devel-proposed but
not in rtm.

Title:
"q" / "1" key is hard to press because half the key counts as edge
swipe
Status in Ubuntu Keyboard:
New
Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
The left-most key(s) on the onscreen keyboard can be difficult to
activate because the input gets interpreted as the beginning of an
edge swipe instead of a keypress. It seems like about half of the "q"
key is allocated toward edge swipes, which can make it difficult or
slow to enter a 'q' or '1' symbol.
This issue does not affect right-edge keys, only left-edge keys.
What's different? Could we reduce the thickness of the edge area to
improve keyboard function, and still retain reliable edge swipe
behavior?
