Actually, this was fixed in ubuntu 14.10 with apparmor 2.8.98-0ubuntu2.

Status in “apparmor” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Nowadays /var/spool/mail is a symlink to /var/mail.

  /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/user-mail should be updated to reflect
  this.
