Message #35336
[Bug 1392636] Re: Export VPN connection - IPv4 connection parameters not exported
Indeed, the export only exports in the actual VPN format, which does not
necessarily contain a way to describe IPv4 or IPv6 settings. This is
also so that it can work on any machine, including systems which aren't
using NetworkManager, but rather the VPN program directly.
Marking as Wishlist/Triaged; this is a known limitation that may be
addressed in the future.
** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Triaged
** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided => Wishlist
** Package changed: network-manager (Ubuntu) => network-manager-applet
(Ubuntu)

Title:
Export VPN connection - IPv4 connection parameters not exported
Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
Exporting an OpenVPN connection (don't know if this counts for other
connectors)
Things not exported
- On the IPv4 settings tab (I presume the same for IPv6 but didn't test)
- Routes, additional DNS servers, additional search domains
Didn't test addresses.
This defies expectation ; if you export something, you want to be able
to import it on another machine with no additional work.
