I did not get the Friends app working anymore on the latest Ubuntu
development version (15.04).

I made the attached QML test application that does show the characters
correctly. I would assume it's true also for any other Qt application,
which would point to the direction of this bug being fixed.

If you download the attachment, and install a package called "qml", you
should be able to run the app on the command line with "qml
testcase.qml". You can even use the key Alt-F2 and type the command in
there, if you make sure the testcase.qml is in the Home folder.

  Some characters are unreadable in Twitter and Facebook posts that are written in Chinese.
  I am attaching the screenshot. The rectangles are supposed to be characters.
