Title:
Unity 5.10 Launcher shortens favorites names in dconf
Status in Unity:
Fix Released
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
This is the dconf key for /desktop/unity/launcher/favorites when I'm
using Unity:
['nautilus-home.desktop', 'firefox.desktop', 'gedit.desktop',
'skypetab-ng.desktop', 'ubuntu-software-center.desktop', 'wine-
Programs-Steam-Steam.desktop', 'alacarte-made.desktop']
This is the same dconf key when I'm using Unity 2D:
['nautilus-home.desktop', 'firefox.desktop', 'gedit.desktop',
'skypetab-ng.desktop', 'ubuntu-software-center.desktop',
'/home/shiba/.local/share/applications/wine/Programs/Steam/Steam.desktop',
'/home/shiba/.local/share/applications/alacarte-made.desktop']
The last two favourites are Steam (Wine) and a desktop file I created with Alacarte.
The shortened version of the former is parsed wrongly, as "wine-Programs-Steam-Steam.desktop" doesn't exist. This leads to a warning:
WARN 2012-04-15 10:37:15 unity.favorites
FavoriteStoreGSettings.cpp:139 Unable to load GDesktopAppInfo for
'wine-Programs-Steam-Steam.desktop'
and of course the desktop file is not displayed in the launcher. The
forrect format is that of Unity 2D, because even if the favourite name
was shortened as "Steam.desktop" it would not be seen by Unity, as it
is not in a */applications/ directory.
