[Bug 1402116] Re: web browser requires the user to type "http://" in order to access computers on the same network
Can you elaborate on what you mean by "the URL of a computer on the
local network"?
I’ve tried both "192.168.1.X" and "127.0.0.1", and in both cases the
missing "http://" gets prepended, as expected.

When entering a URL in the URL field of the browser, it should not be
necessary for the user to type "http://" before entering the URL of a
computer on the local network.
