[Bug 1401351] Re: sshfs/gvfs mount consumes 100% cpu on local and remote computer

thecure, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1401351
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Also, if you only downgrade either the client or server (not both) is
the problem either not reproducible, or only reproducible on one of the
clients?

Title:
sshfs/gvfs mount consumes 100% cpu on local and remote computer

Status in gvfs package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After upgrade from 14.04 to 14.10 I am having very slow file transfers
when I use "Connect to Server" in "Files" (nautilus?) over gigabit
LAN. (10 mb/sec max) This is fixed by mounting folder with sshfs and I
can transfer 3 gb file in a few seconds BUT on CPU single core on
local and remote host has 100% CPU utilization and very high memory
  usage by gvfs.

  sshfs user@remote:/home/folder/ /home/folder

fusermount -u ~/folder kills the 100% single core CPU and memory usage
on local but on remote machine 100% CPU of single core of CPU and
large amounts of memory still being utilized by gvfs.

Local machine is Ubuntu 14.10 64 bit (Upgrade from 14.04) and remote
is Ubuntu Server 14.10 64bit (Upgrade from 14.04 also)

(I don't know which program being used under gvfs is causing the high
memory and 100% single CPU core utilization.)
