I got u-desktop-next to boot, and confirm that starting cgmanager fixes
app startup.

Bug description:
  Using unity8 desktop on vivid, when booting with systemd it's not
  possible to start applications from the unity8 dash, that could be an
  issue with ubuntu-app-launch/cgmanager
