I bumped into this bug too. I'm attaching a test case, where I load a
transparent PNG and when the image is loaded you can see that the white
background disappears.

Bug description:
  The current shape supports only two exclusive properties to shape
  either an image or a color. It would be nice to to have an image with
  a custom background color (other than transparent).
