[Bug 1396637] Re: deads keys / accented characters stop working on Libreoffice after windows loses focus

Same here: Kubuntu 14.10, LibreOffice 4.3.3.2, spanish localization.

This makes installed LO unusable for me. Alternatives: XMODIFIERS
workaround; reinstall gnome LO; use alternative software: calligra, OO;
abiword... None of them is satisfying. Provided office package should
be completely usable.

Found some reports in the web:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/451840/accents-stop-working-all-of-a-sudden-in-libreoffice

Some comments:

"I solved it in my system by removing libreoffice-kde and keeping
libreoffice-gnone."

"It seems other similar issues may be related to this package
combination (KDE, ibus, libreoffice-kde)"

"What helped to me was to remove libreoffice-kde package."

Title:
deads keys / accented characters stop working on Libreoffice after
  windows loses focus

Status in ibus package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
deads keys / accented characters stop working on Libreoffice after
  windows loses focus

  On Ubuntu 14.04 with KDE:

  1. open libreoffice
  2. write áéíóú
  3. click on another window or use alt+tab
  4. clock on libreoffice window or use alt+tab
  5. write áéíóu and get aeiou instead

The situation can be worked around by running

  unset XMODIFIERS
  libreoffice

  from a terminal.

We can certainly set unset XMODIFIERS on

  /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice

but that will not survice libreoffice upgrades.

We could also unset XMODIFIERS on .bash_profile but we want the
workaround to be limited to libreoffice without causing side effects
  on other apps.

Conclusion: we need a solution that comes directly from Ubuntu's
  repositories.

  Any comments?

We are available for further debugging and testing.
