Title:
Can't load bookmarklets at all
Status in Web Browser App:
Confirmed
Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
The Ubuntu browser will not allow me to load javascript: URLs at all,
either from the address bar or from a bookmark. AddressBar.qml
disallows javascript: URLs but is easily patched to allow them;
however, with that patch in place, or when loading a javascript: URL
from a bookmark (manually poked into bookmarks.sqlite), the browser
shows a screen saying:
Network Error
It appars you are having trouble viewing: javascript:location.href=%22http://www.yahoo.com/%22
Ubuntu suggests you check your network settings and try refreshing the page.
This makes it impossible to use bookmarklets in the Ubuntu browser,
which is quite annoying: for example, the Readability bookmarklet
makes it much easier to read pages on a phone-sized screen, and isn't
available to me as an Ubuntu Touch user. It also generally cuts off
the ability of people to deliver little enhancements to the browser
before they get rolled into the browser as a built-in feature.
