Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. This release has reached
Desktop EOL so I'm going to close this bug. If you have similar issues
in the future please do report them.

Title:
package ubuntu-desktop 1.179 failed to install/upgrade:
Status in ubuntu-meta package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
This error occurred while updating via the terminal. After failed
update I ran a partial upgrade which also left this package
uninstalled - Lucid are running in low graphics mode after a failed
attempt to install the driver for my nVidia card. Lucid Lynx Alpha 1
seem not able to restore the X-settings returning to Vesa mode driver
after kernel-upgrade two days ago. Since the kernel upgrade Lucid has
become somewhat unstable during boot but nothing major until this
failed attempt to update Ubuntu-Desktop. I've tried running "dexconf"
from a CLI login without no result measurable. The reason why I
mention the kernel upgrade is that graphics has gone walkabout in low
mode. This might have influence on this error?
