[Bug 522340] Re: can't start ubuntu. grub loader dosn't work

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. This release has reached
EOL so I'm going to close this bug. If you have similar issues in the
future please do report them.

Furthermore, this seems like it was a support request. AskUbuntu or the
Ubuntu forums are better suited to handle this kind of request. As this
was 4 years ago, I hope you found help...

Bug description:
  Hey erverybody..

i need some help. i have an old computer i'm trying too install ubuntu
9.10 on. it's a asus pentium 4. the problem is to start ubuntu. when i
start the computer it seems like it dosn't start the gnu grub loader.
the only thing there is on the screen is just the word "grub" and not
the normal loader options. using the my live cd i can open ubuntu and
it works fine. but i would like to turn on my computer without using
the live cd. i've tried installing various vers. of gnu grub in the
  synaptics without any luck.

  hope anybody can help me..!
