[Bug 1137901] Re: unity/compiz locks up when modifying the partition layout
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

Title:
unity/compiz locks up when modifying the partition layout
Status in GNOME Disks:

Status in Unity:
Incomplete
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
When using parted or gparted, the desktop will become unresponsive
after successfully modifying the partition layout. The mouse is
movable, but clicking or using the keyboard has no effect. Sometime
after a long while responsiveness will return, but sometimes it
appears not to and compiz must be killed.
Unity does output these warnings:
WARN 2013-02-27 23:29:18 unity.libgdu <unknown>:0 Partition /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdb11 is a logical partition but no extended partition exists
WARN 2013-02-27 23:29:18 unity.libgdu <unknown>:0 Partition /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdb8 is a logical partition but no extended partition exists
WARN 2013-02-27 23:29:18 unity.libgdu <unknown>:0 Partition /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdb6 is a logical partition but no extended partition exists
WARN 2013-02-27 23:29:18 unity.libgdu <unknown>:0 Partition /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdb5 is a logical partition but no extended partition exists
WARN 2013-02-27 23:29:18 unity.libgdu <unknown>:0 Partition /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sdb10 is a logical partition but no extended partition exists
I'm on Precise, with unity version 5.14 and compiz version
0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1.4
