Title:
WPA2 with TTLS and PAP connection drops
Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I have been experiencing difficulties to connect to my lab network and
to eduroam. These are WPA2 networks with TTLS and PAP authentication.
The signal strength is almost 100% (but I am usually receiving from
different closely located spots, so the system might be trying to
connect to the more distant ones instead).
When trying to connect, the nm-applet displays the "connecting"
animation for several minutes and I am repeatedly asked for my
password, as if connection attempts were rejected due to wrong
credentials. It can sometimes take up to 20 minutes to achieve a
connection.
Then, it regularly drops or "dies" : I am still considered connected,
but I cannot send or receive data. I have to get through the above
mentioned connection process again. Today, connection drops roughly
every 45 seconds, but re-establishes after 60 seconds.
Concerning eduroam, which has spots in many academic buildings
throughout France (and more), the problem seems not to depend on the
spot (it happened in several different towns).
I do not seem to experience this kind of problem with lower security
networks (although I am rarely connecting to them), so it might be
related with wpa_supplicant.
