battery graph from same phone a few hrs later, the graph has been
smoothed out ignoring the rapid drop, perhaps we are getting bad battery
stats

  The syslog contains a number of warnings for low battery all the way to 0%, with 0% reported for several minutes.
  The system just turned off but not initiated by powerd
  When the system was booted the charge level was reported as over 10% almost immediately.
