Title:
  update-manager -d to karmic from intrepid failed on console-setup

Status in console-setup package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: console-setup

  When doing a intrepid -> karmic upgrade (update-manager -d) it failed
  on console-setup

  The error was mentioned to be in  "/var/lib/dpkg/info/console-setup.config" line 1295
  Which appeared to be a: eval `locale`

  My locale output contained a 
  LC_ALL=
  (empty) so this caused the problem.

  I did a
  export LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8"
  and added this line to /etc/profile

  After that running the update-manager again fixed everything.

  Maybe my LC_ALL=
  is a very exotic and wrong configuration issue (dunno where it came from), but since my install crashed so miserably and left a half installed system, it might be worth catching this problem.
