Title:
Ubuntu 13.10 Radeon HD 8470D screen flickering and tearing
Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
After an upgrade from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10, my unity desktop is
experiencing screen flickering and what appears to be some screen
tearing. Tearing may not be the correct term. I see random
triangular areas of the screen which display what appears to be a gray
scale gradient. They are not always at the same position. The size
and position change frequently. Also, icons are flashing in the tray
panel a the top of the screen.
I have attempted to load the propitiatory AMD/ATI drivers, but that
only leaves me with a black screen after reboot.
I searched Launchpad and found Bug #1249468 which sounds to be the
same issue.
