[Bug 1285861] Re: Gnome-shell intermittently locks up (13.10)

Reuben Firmin, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Saucy reached EOL on July 17, 2014.
See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Is this an issue in a supported release?

** Description changed:

- This is likely related to #1184451. Filing bug per Christopher's request
- in there, so that you can see my hardware.
-
Periodically (2-3 times a day) gnome will partially lock up. I can still
move the mouse around, but clicks are not registered. Sound continues
  playing. I can't alt-tab. I believe ctrl alt f2 does not work, but I
need to verify that next time around.

Pressing ctrl alt backspace starts to restart X (windows & decorations
are wiped, but the frames are still visible; sound cuts out; the mouse
cursor is no longer visible) but then the PC hard lock. Ctrl alt
  backspace works usually.
-
- I'm going to change to the proprietary nvidia drivers per suggestions in
- #1184451. Hopefully that'll do the trick.
