Nick, can you look at this?  Do you know why u8 would freeze in the case
of an unsupported indicator type?  (More like busy-waits while blocking
input -- it's CPU usage is high in this case)

  Support com.canonical.indicator.basic indicator type

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  If we use an indicator profile that causes an indicator (like
  indicator-power in the 'desktop' profile) to export a
  "com.canonical.indicator.basic" for the x-canonical-type hint, unity8
  freezes.

  It seems we don't have support for this indicator type yet.  And if we
  want to work with 'desktop' indicator profiles, we'll need to add
  support.
