[Bug 1420988] Re: no audio input from combo jack on ALC283 (Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition)

 

Here is a solution that seems to work for me (Acer Travelmate B115):
add the line [code]options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi[/code]
in the file called /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf (or create the file if it doen't exist
In my case that makes internal microphone and headset microphone available. Automatic switching between the two is not perfect but in case it doesn't switch automatically I can fix it in pavucontrol.

Bug description:
  Happens on Linux Mint 17.1 (Ubuntu 14.04). Linux kernel is 3.19 in
  order to get the touchpad working

  The external microphone connected to the combo jack of this laptop
  doesn't work, the output does work.
