[Bug 1330128] Re: Enabling 'radeon.dpm=1' kernel parameter makes Xorg full crash

Ḷḷumex03, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1330128

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Enabling 'radeon.dpm=1' kernel parameter makes Xorg full crash

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When you try to enable 'radeon.dpm=1' parameter into ubuntu linux
kernel it makes strange things with display server like: corrupt
graphics, screen blinks and other crazy stuff. However, if you try to
watch a movie, xorg crashes and you have to restart your computer
because you can't run any action, i mean, the screen frezes.

In the other hand, i actually don't know if xorg-server crashes
because of 'radeon.dpm=1', or it's radeon driver itself which is
  crashing xorg-server using 'radeon.dpm=1" parameter.

I'm using a AMD Radeon HD of the 6800 series in Ubuntu Trusty Tahr
  14.04.
