  Stays on splash screen forever when failing to start application

Status in qtmir package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Using rtm 251 on bq, I just had some click update glitches (bug
  #1429022) resulting in having a click updated with the dash view
  refresh.

  Clicking on calendar (which is the click which was updated) seems to
  try to start the old version, which fails.

  Unity8 displays an application splash screen with the title and a
  spinning cursor, the start obviously failed but 10 minutes later the
  view didn't change and is still cursor spinning...
