Title:
USB audio sound card not recognized after update to Linux
3.12-rc1-saucy
Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Not sure where this report should go, I think it concerns the Linux
kernel 3.12-rc1-saucy from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/
After installing above mentioned kernel (switching from 3.11.1) I can
no longer use my USB sound card. (It is an external D/A converter and
speaker amplifier.) The sound settings dialog only lists "Dummy
Output". (My onboard soundcard is disabled in BIOS.)
Dmesg:
usb 1-1.1.2: new full-speed USB device number 13 using ehci-pci
usb 1-1.1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=08bb, idProduct=2706
usb 1-1.1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
usb 1-1.1.2: Product: USB Audio DAC
usb 1-1.1.2: Manufacturer: Burr-Brown from TI
input: Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio DAC as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.0/usb1/1-1/1-1.1/1-1.1.2/1-1.1.2:1.2/input/input9
hid-generic 0003:08BB:2706.0007: input,hidraw4: USB HID v1.00 Device [Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio DAC ] on usb-0000:00:1a.0-1.1.2/input2
snd_usb_audio: `-2' invalid for parameter `index'
and /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf indeed does have this line:
options snd-usb-audio index=-2
The kernel apparently sees my USB amplifier, but it is not listed in
the Sound settings, even though there is no other sound device
present.
