Title:
[USB-Audio - SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro, playback] Static, crackling
sounds using module-loopback
Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I recently hooked up a SB X-Fi Surrount 5.1 Pro external sound card to
my computer. It has a Line-In port which I wanted to use for playing
audio from another computer. I enabled the loopback module like so:
pactl load-module module-loopback
And although I could then hear sound from Line-In, it was distorted by
static, crackling sounds. I took the advice I found here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/PositionReporting
Making this change to /etc/pulse/default.pa:
load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0
After rebooting and again loading the loopback module, the playback
was static-free. As instructed by the above webpage, I'm filing this
bug to track the issue and suggested solution.
