Bug description:
In Ubuntu Vivid, using the 'reboot' command directly reboots the system in such a way that the bash_history is not retained.
This bug has also been reported in Red Hat: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1170765
There it was found that the cause of this bug is to be found within Systemd, because systemd sends SIGKILL imediately after SIGTERM during shutdown:
