[Bug 1449292] Re: Recovery mode is displayed in unreadable font
I tried dpkg-reconfigure console-setup and it offers font 16x8, but there is no 16x8 for VGA, there is only 16 in /etc/console-setup:
Uni2-VGA16.psf.gz
Also, for some unknown reason, it it was not extracted from archive and I should do it by hand.
So, at last, I found the following solution:
in /etc/default/console-setup changed:
FONTSIZE="16x8" to FONTSIZE="16"
setupcon --save
gunzip -k /etc/console-setup/Uni2-VGA16.psf.gz

Title:
Recovery mode is displayed in unreadable font
Status in console-setup package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
After upgrading to 15.04 I found my Recovery mode is displayed in
black boxes and is completely not readable. I should run setupcon each
time I'm entering recovery mode to make Cyrillic letters readable.
All Latin is ok. I have installed 3 different linux kernels and when
I'm booting to one of them in recovery all is ok but in case of two
others - black squares instead of Cyrillic. I don't know what package
responds for this issue but I'm thinking this is a bug.
