Touchpad pointer gets stuck often

Bug description:
I find using the touchpad on my laptop gets stuck on what appears to be another window.
The bast way to describe it is the pointer does not respond, unless you are using the correct screen.
I have managed to get termal window ontop of the firefox window and when I right clicked on the terminal I got the menu from firefox.
My laptop isn't the fastest so I wonder if it is causing a delay that the pointer is not being updated with the correct "window".
Current work arounds include:
-rebooting
-locating the window with the stuck pointer and closing the window
-switching to command and back (Ctrl +Alt + F1 then Ctrl + Alt + F7).
I had this issue on both Ubunutu 14.04 and 14.10. I was hopefully the upgrade to 14.10 would fix it, but it hasn't.
