[Bug 1453742] Re: xorg started to systematically crash after every suspend/resume

teo1978, thank you for your quick response.

Regarding using UEFI, it's strongly advised not using it unless you
absolutely must, as noted in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI .

Regarding dual-booting, also strongly advised not to do it. If you must
use Windows in an ongoing basis (some legacy application that can't
utilize WINE or you can't use another program) just virtualize it via
virtualbox and save yourself the hassle.

Regarding regressions, if the code changes in kernel/xorg stack require
a more precise BIOS implementation or was providing some BIOS hack
WORKAROUND, that being reverted is not considered a bug in the
kernel/xorg but in the BIOS.

Title:
xorg started to systematically crash after every suspend/resume

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  - I suspended
  - I pressed a key to resume
  - the screen turned on and I was prompted for the password as usual
  - I entered the password

=> my previous session was lost, every application I had left open
prior to suspend was closed, all unsaved data was lost and everything
was as if I had just rebooted.

Then I tried suspending and resuming again just for the sake of
testing, and it happened again, exactly the same way.

It now happens 100% of the times systematically.
Now maybe (I hope) it will stop happening after a reboot, but for now, once it has started happening, it has become systematic.

This is not the first time I observe it.
