  Dash pauses/stutters during scope switching left/right

Bug description:
  Dash pauses/stutters during scope switching left/right.

  Watching the log:   tail -f ~/.cache/upstart/unity8-dash.log

  I can see error messages flood out whenever the dash pauses/stutters
  during left/right swipes:
