  NetworkingStatus.online is always false on desktop

  Invalid

Bug description:
  As the summary says, even though I'm online with my notebook,
  NetworkingStatus.online always returns false.

  I haven't used it much lately, but when I was using it last, about a
  month ago it was still working.
