Title:
stat does not know about cifs
Status in coreutils package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Status in coreutils source package in Lucid:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
Binary package hint: coreutils
This is an upstream bug that has been fixed with coreutils 8.1 but it
needs to be fixed in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS so that OpenOffice.org can save
properly to cifs by disabling locking. See bug 486443, bug 578402, and
bug 582925. To work around the locking issue on cifs we can check and
disable based on the filesystem name but this does not work for cifs.
On a cifs mount if you run the following you don't get the filesystem
type name like on others like nfs, smb, etc.
#stat -f -c %T filename
UNKNOWN (0xff534d42)
I have attached a patch that I believe fixes this correctly, and I can
do the upload but would prefer someone to verify what I did looks sane
as I am not familiar with coreutils.
