Title:
Xorg freeze
Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
[I reported with ubuntu-bug, seems ok, and provides same info as
"ubuntu-bug xorg" (as I then chose xorg)?]
I locked the screen (yes, I have dual screen setup) and when coming
back seconds/minutes later the pointer was frozen and I could not type
in a password. Note, I see the password prompt [e.g. not (fully)
similar to a bug (#1311316]) I've reported previously, that is
supposed to be fixed, but I get e-mails saying it isn't..].
Here, at work in 14.04, all details are clear in memory still except for (and see about 15.04 below):
[From memory I tried and failed to go to a virtual terminal, in case I
misremember, I think I at least confirmed CAPS LOCK light not
working.]
After restart I got a (apport) dialog box about X failed. Note, I
tried (after opening chrome) to use it to finish using that dialog box
to send the error but didn't get the web-report I expected (like I'm
filling out now) or any confirmation, so I used ubuntu-bug manually as
I wasn't sure you get the info otherwise.
I wouldn't know for sure that this freeze is because of Xorg and still
do not know for sure, just seems so based on the auto dialog and
report as such.
What I can speculate about, if this is a new bug it may even come from vivid/15.04 (what has been backported recently?) as I've gotten a freeze (same or possibly only similar symptoms) at home with it. Note there, I do not have dual screens as it is a laptop. There the computer may have suspended. I do not recall if this only happened there when closing lid/suspend or even without. The screen may have been black can't remember all details at least it was frozen and required a reboot..
At home I have Intel, here Nvidia Quadro graphics.
