Thanks for your bug report, I can't confirm on the current candidate
update though, the popup with copy/paste is displayed here when double
clicking the entry at the bottom of the screen (that's where you tap
right?)

Title:
  Can't access Select all/Paste menu

Status in messaging-app package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  When there are messages in history (on the screen) and try to double tap the message input box to show Select all/Paste menu the application seemingly freeze (cursor stop blinking) and the menu is not displayed until any key is pressed.
  Seems like screen stops to being updated or something similar.
  This is not happening when writing new message.
