[Bug 1475129] Re: HP EliteBook 9480m and others crash when sleeping docked and resuming undocked
as a clarification, the 820 has the BT, audio, and camera turned off in
the bios, but the 9480m does not. Those three items are not a variable
in this issue.

Title:
HP EliteBook 9480m and others crash when sleeping docked and resuming
undocked
Status in pm-utils package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
I've seen this bug on multiple versions of Ubuntu (14.04 and 15.04)
and with multiple hardware (HP EliteBook 9470m, HP EliteBook 9480m,
and HP EliteBook 820). Not surprising since they appear to share a
bios core. They are all running latest BIOS.
Sleep/resume normally works fine, but if I allow it to sleep while in
the docking station, and then I undock it and resume it, it appears to
try to resume, then after half a second or so, it flashes back to POST
screen and boots fresh. It looks to me like the resume operation
crashes somehow and it reboots.
Observations:
It does not matter if there are any monitors pluged into the docking station.
I've tried toggling deep-sleep in bios, no effect.
I've tried toggling USB3 in bios, no effect.
I can't find any indication of a crash or a reason for the reboot in
any of the logs. I added the dmesg from EliteBook 820 because it's
the simpler installation. I have Bluetooth, Camera, and audio turned
off in bios for various reasons. It is also docked in a monitor-less
dock (I use it for charging).
Please let me know what other information I can provide.
