I haven't been able to reproduce this myself on boot (only by manually
stopping unity8), I notice there was also a bug logged at the same time
for unity8 crashes here:

Does this only occur when unity8 crashes? If so that'd explain why it's
failing to make a Mir connection (since this is provided by unity).

Bug description:
  On rc-proposed/bq-aquaris.en/krillin #64 and rc-
  proposed/meizu.en/arale #56 maliit-server often crashes on boot,
  introducing a long delay while apport is doing its work.

  There doesn't seem to be any impact after boot.
